PBIS...Positive Behavior Intervention Support

Have you heard of PBIS?

PBIS is a framework that is in the second year of implementation in the elementary schools in the Westfield Public School system. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Intervention Support. It is compromised of research-based behavioral practices and interventions that have been shown to improve social behaviors and academic achievement. Each elementary school has developed a matrix of expected behaviors in all settings throughout their buildings.

At Southampton Road Elementary School we have a set of common expectations for our students in the classrooms, halls, cafeteria and buses. Our STARS Program promotes positive behavior and we take pride in our star students!

Stick to it

Take responsibility

Act kindly

Respect others

SRS staff and students work together to promote a positive learning environment. We want students to take responsibility and be good citizens in our school community and beyond. We meet monthly as a whole school to discuss the importance and positive effects of good behavior and kindness. Students are recognized daily for being positive role models at SRS.
