Minutes
Tonight we had a great showing of 15 people. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, November 16 at 6:00 PM. We hope you can join us. Child care is available.
Treasurers Report: Alisa Barber handed out the income and expenses to date and noted the significant changes.
Event Reports:
Open house was a huge success! We had an amazing 89% attendance. Thank you!
Fall Book Fair - October 17-20; Family night is October 17, 6-8 p.m.
Cookies and Cocoa with Santa - Dec 16 from 6-7:30; this will be a free event for the whole family. Flyers will be sent home and a RSVP is needed. There will be time for pictures with Santa and a winter themed basket raffle.
Kids Movie Night - November 10, 6:30-8 for K-5; Come with your whole family! Wear your pajamas and bring a pillow & blanket (parents a beach chair is a good idea for you) and enjoy a "G" rated movie. Popcorn and drinks will be sold.
Update from Mrs. Willard and Mrs. O’Donnell
Our school has received a generous donation from Western Mass Environmental which is allowing us to buy 2 new computers. We also have received a donation from Poly Plating consisting of a SMART Board and computer. Along with this, the PTO has raised enough money to purchase an additional 3 SMART Boards! This is only possible because of the outpouring of support from all our families working hard selling the fundraisers. All fundraiser profits go back into the school to benefit the children directly. Thank you for all your hard work!!
Our school only needs 4 more SMART Boards to be a "SMART" school - that means a SMART technology for EVERY classroom!
There are 2 upcoming enrichments planned:
December 1 - Gerwick Puppets
March 29 - Tin Cup, Pioneer Living - They are a hands on museum that transforms our gym into pioneer time. There will be sifting for gold, artifacts and antiques from that time period, and much more.
Homework Club starts on Monday October 17; Grades 4 & 5; Monday & Wednesday afternoons led by Westfield State College students
Fundraising:
Fall Fundraiser - This was our biggest fundraiser ever! Thank you to all the families for all your hard work.
Yankee Candle - Will be in Friday Oct 14 and pick up time will be from 2-7. They cannot be sent home with children! Please try to pick up your orders on Friday.
Pie Fundraiser - Will be in before Thanksgiving
Bake Sale - November 8; A signup sheet will be going home for volunteers to help during the bake sale and donations as well. Baked goods can be dropped off November 7 when children are picked up for school.
Coke Rewards - Please go to mycokerewards.com and enter the number inside the bottle cap to earn great stuff for our school.
Box Tops for Education - Next submission is 11/1
Tyson Food labels – Please look for these labels on boxes or bags of Tyson Products and send them in.
Shop and Shop A+ – Please register your card yearly. You can either go in the store or online to Stopandshop.com
Falcons – Our 5th grade chorus will be performing for the opening game October 15.
Adopt a book - Now run by Alisa Barber...Thank you!
Please keep sending in your old ink cartridges and cell phones.
Volunteer Opportunity
The week before Thanksgiving we will have a booth at Stop & Shop signing up people for our school. If you would like to help, please contact Daniele Sturmer - 977-6427
The cafeteria is still looking for people to wipe tables down from 11:20 - 1 Mon-Friday. If you would like to help please contact Linda VanGordon - 572-6435
WHIPS - Westfield Helps its Public Schools needs parent volunteers to represent our school. This is a great program that puts on the Art Show and helps our school qualify for many grants. If interested please call Barbara Trant 572-6345
