Written homework will generally not be given in first grade.  Planners are sent home and students should read those messages.  In addition, all corrected papers that are sent home, should be discussed with the student explaining how the paper was completed. Word wall words and reading vocabulary word lists are sent home in newsletters.  Paper take-home books will also be sent home to read as homework.  Students should read daily at home to practice this newly acquired skill.  I will be happy to provide you with book titles or books that match your child's reading level.  Writing practice can be done through letter writing.  I will write back to any child who writes to me.

There will be occasional special projects sent home that compliment what we are doing in the classroom. Completion of these projects together will enhance your child's learning.
